Use the order of operations, the 2 if you look closely is actually multiplying, not adding. So that equals 3+2(7) = 3+14=17.

For this equation, you have to consider the order of operations. Parentheses, "()", come first on the list, so it should be the first thing you do.

So, use the law of distribution, compute 2(10-3) first. After distributing, (you have to multiply 2*10 and 2*-3), you get the equation: 3+ 2*10 - 2*3 = 17.

Next, you have to multiply (the third thing in the order of operations). So you now get: 3 + 20 - 6 = 17.

Add the left hand side together, and it comes to 17 = 17.

() stands for parentheses, and that is part of PEMDAS. In this problem, you would do the subtraction in the parentheses first:
3+2(7)

Next, you do the multiplication:
3+14

Finally, you do the addition:
3+14=17

I hope that was helpful.

follow order of operations
Parenthesis( that is what the () is) first!
Exponets
Multiply
Divide (multiply and divide in order from left to right)
Add (add and subtract in order from left to right)
Subtract
outside of the parenthesis u multiply the 7 by 2 and then add the 3 to the answer you get!

Hope I helped!
