Bamma say weight the most undesireable thing ever. Bamma say every woman he ever know hate it. Bamma say they try to give this stuff away. Bamma say nobody want it. Bamma say baby just keep the weight. Bamma say he no care. Bamma say weight makes ash look fat. Bamma say he only say that one time. Bamma say she hold it over head for life. Bamma say women part elephant. Bamma otta know.

You've got some good information here from previous answers. Let's keep it simple. Weight is the force on an object or mass caused by local gravity. If gravity is more, weight is more. If gravity is less, weight is less. Mass stays the same no matter what gravity is present. Again, other answers are good, but keep it simple.
Now for the technical. There is nothing wrong with slugs used as a unit of mass. There is also an Engineering unit called pounds mass. It's weight unit is pounds force. It's all about education and choice. Just remember to stick with the same units. Don't try to mix them. If you start in Engineering units, stay there. If you start in SI units, stay there. Lastly, if you start in British gravitational units, which includes slugs for mass, stay there. Wait until all calculations are finished before converting the answer to another unit if such a conversion is needed.

Weight
The weight of an object is defined as the force of gravity on the object and may be calculated as the mass times the acceleration of gravity, w = mg. Since the weight is a force, its SI unit is the newton.

For an object in free fall, so that gravity is the only force acting on it, then the expression for weight follows from Newton's second law.

You might well ask, as many do, "Why do you multiply the mass times the freefall acceleration of gravity when the mass is sitting at rest on the table?". The value of g allows you to determine the net gravity force if it were in freefall, and that net gravity force is the weight. Another approach is to consider "g" to be the measure of the intensity of the gravity field in Newtons/kg at your location. You can view the weight as a measure of the mass in kg times the intensity of the gravity field, 9.8 Newtons/kg under standard conditions.

Data can be entered into any of the boxes below. Then click outside the box to update the other quantities.

At the Earth's surface, where g=9.8 m/s2 :

The weight of mass kg is Newtons
The weight of mass slugs is pounds

The kilogram is the SI unit of mass and it the almost universally used standard mass unit. The associated SI unit of force and weight is the Newton, with 1 kilogram weighing 9.8 Newtons under standard conditions on the Earth's surface. However, in the US common units, the pound is the unit of force (and therefore weight). The pound is the widely used unit for commerce. The use of the pound force constrains the mass unit to an inconveniently large measuring unit called a "slug". The use of this unit is discouraged, and the use of exclusively SI units for all scientific work is strongly encouraged.

What is a slug?

In the physical sciences, weight is a measurement of the gravitational force acting on an object. In everyday parlance (and, for historical reasons, still in some scientific terminology), "weight" is often used as a synonym for mass.

weight is a certain amount of mass multipied by the gravitational energy

If your mass is 57kg, on earth your weight will be 57X10=570newtons

Better Idea is to go to wikipedia...Duh!
