Depeche Mode (Black Celebration, Violator, Playing the Angel) - have a similar sound, ambience to NIN's Pretty Hate Machine.
Tool - has a similar lyrical gravity and tone (but a different approach, less keyboard, more bass guitar.)
Marilyn Manson - has similar sound and use of instruments, but less meaningful lyrics. (Antichrist Superstar is the best full album.)
Smashing Pumpkins - Some of the harder songs (like Zero) have a NIN type sound.

It all depends on your tatste, but believe it or not (and if you don't I don;t blame you, you have no idea who I am), but I am pretty good friends with "Three Days Grace", and I like their music. They ROCK!!!!!
