Littleso... there is a huge difference between a kitchen window and a patio door glass. The answer is simple No you cannot now fit a cat flap into your patio door glass, reason is simple toughened glass can only be cut when it is still hot,as part of the making procedure, any cat flaps in patio doors that anybody has seen will have been made into the glass when it was manufactured. Do not under any circumstance try and cut safety glass, you cant it will shatter.

If you have a sliding glass door, there is an easy solution. There is a cat/dog door kit available for sliders. It is installed on the fixed glass door side. The only problem with this is that you loose the width of the new doggy door on the door that opens and closes. But it does beat having to put a doggy door through the wall.

You can't put it in the glass because the glass is tempered and cannot be cut. You would need to change the door style to one with a wood or alternate material lower panel, big enough for your door- and put the flap in that area.

there are instructions in the cat flap box - you cut a circular hole. Cant do this with toughened glass unless its done while the glass is being made.

You will have to get a Glazing company to give you a quote for a new piece of glass which they will have to replace with the old one, because you cannot cut safety glass, because it will just shatter if you try. You must ask them to give you safety glass with a kite mark on it when they make it up for you.

It would be easier, and cheaper to install it in the wall next to the door. Or check out the link below. I know a person who has done this, it's funnier than hell. But it beats a litter pan. How to toilet train a cat. And it's easier than you might think.

if its a double glazed door it has to be done at the time the door is being made, but if its not a glazier will do it for you...btw...Ive seen cat flaps in windows too !!
