Private lessons are worth doing if you've got the cash. I mainly taught myself by downloading tab for songs that I knew well. I'm a pretty poor guitarist though!

Most music shops usually offer lessons in house, or local players will advertise lessons available in the lobby area on a corkboard near the entrance. Also, you can look in the local paper or area music magazine if you have one in your area in the help wanted section. These will get you started learning the basics, try to find someone that you feel comfortable learning from. But to master the guitar there is only one way.....PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. ;)

I took private guitar lessons - about 15.00 an hr. Best thing I could have ever done!
