Where do nails breathe?

I heard they breathe around the nail.

they don't "breathe" persay, but if you always wear nailpolish, your nails will eventually start to turn yellow because of a lack of oxygen they receive. if you think i'm lying, i'm not, because my mom always wore nailpolish and her nails became yellow so she wore more nailpolish to cover it up.
