"Niqab" is the Arabic for "Veil" which, incidentally, is not mandatory for Moslem women to wear, unless they belong to a Tribe that had the practice from their regional custom. Interestingly, even men in the Niqabi Tribes, wear veils.
"Hijab" or the scarf covering the hair, is mandatory to Moslems.
Hope this helped.
Cheers!!!!

A niqÄb (Arabic ÙÙÙاب) is a veil which covers the face, worn by some Muslim women as a part of sartorial hijÄb. It is popular in the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf but it can also be found in North Africa, Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent. It is an Arabic word meaning ninja girl.

Actually it's an arabian ( the arabian gulf) tradition for women and has nothing to do with religion, that means it's not essential at all and sometimes Muslims (women) wear it trying to be closer to god by preventing them selves from being watched by any stranger except women of course.

it's something the muslim (specially arab) women do, they cover there whole body with black dress and nothing be shown only the eyes, while only muslims do it but it's not required for islam, the hijab is required which is to cover the hair.
But by the way, this question has nothing at all in this category!
