well, its a little bit rude... but better than just showing up with out you being informed. even if you didn't have that extra candle... they would have liked you for accepting them for Christmas. Happy Holiday to you too.

I wouldn't be upset Christmas is a time for gathering and togetherness and goodwill and such . I am guessing the guy doesn;t have anythign going on and no one should be alone on Christmas. Just enjoy the holiday its not ment to be a stressful time, celebrate enjoy the day and time of year

At least they gave you notice. I 've had people show up I never expected, with a friend, when I had the table set for a sit down dinner. Smile and be the sweet person you are.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

It's Christmas, and Christmas means family. Sure, it would have been nice to have given you more notice, but maybe the adult son made a last minute decision, and your brother couldn't let you know earlier. Just accept them, welcome them, and make them part of your Christmas.
Merry Christmas to you

I think it's rude. But like other people are saying..........at least he didn't show up unannounced. Hey, you never know. Maybe the guy will be a nice guy. Regardless, there's nothing you can do about it. Have a glass (or two) of wine, smile, and just think they'll be leaving soon. Good luck.

It's not so rude, I think. Try to look at it as a spur of the moment holiday idea. I would guess your brother simply wants him to share in the holiday. I don't think he planned to inconvenience you.

Yeah, it is a little rude. Regardless of the season, I think your brother or his girlfriend should've given you advanced notice. Trust me, I've been in a situation like yours before.
