i have been treated for a uti but it seems that its not clearin up .over the past 3wks i have been perscribed meds such as cipro,bactrin, and amoxicilin. which none of it has helped. my doc said my urine results showed bacteria and pus cells. but all the meds have not worked for me i am still having discomfort. i am having to urinate a lot and its is only a lil bit come out and it feel like i have discomfort in my urine stream...something like a cathernine is stuck in my urine steam

You have not mentioned your age and sex. It makes a lot of difference .
Anyway, it is clear that you have a complicated U T I , THAT MEANS THERE exists a primary reason which is responsible for your UTI and therefore it is not resolving even in 3 weeks time and inspite of receiving proper medications. Because all uncomplicated UTI s will resolve within 3 to 5 days with lots of fluids and 2 or 3 days treatment with antibiotics which you have already received.
Now you must visit a urologist after getting 3 basic tests done-- latest urine culture and sensitivity, Ultrasound KUB and Uroflowmetery.
Although urologists are rare, but I am sure you will be able to locate one with the help of--www.usi.org.in - the official website of urological society of india or you may ask me informing me about your city of residence - as I know almost all urologists practising in India.
Meanwhile you may take --Inj. Amikacin 500 mg. I.M. OR I.V. twice a day for 2 days as it helps to resolve most of the cases.

When I had a UTI I was perscribe medication some type of pill that made my pee turned orange and then another time I actually got something else and by the third time I stopped going to the doctors (problem with a UTI is that if you get one there is a high chance they will reoccur). With a UTI now I just drink LOTS of cranberry juice and liquids (no sodas, liquor drinks) but juices and perhaps water (it's required for humans) and expect pain with peeing. I would say it last now between 2 to 4 days. (I think it was an accident if I now think about it for not going to the doctors I kept saying I'll go and I'll go but eventually the pain went away and when I got around to going I was healthy).
Make sure you drink LOTS of liquids cranberry juice) and follow the medication. It actually sounds like your doctor is just giving you a new pill and taking test which is not good because in some cases from what I am told that if you have a prolong UTI there can be kidney infection.

cranberry - contains a type of sugar that "greases" the lining of your urinary system and doesn't allow bugs to stick.
pH - change your diet to change your pH so that the bugs will no longer be living in an environment where they thrive.
sugar - avoid as much as possible so that the bugs won't have anything to eat
water - drink more to flush things through your system
probiotics - consider stopping the antibiotics and using probiotics instead.

Pl consult some urologist instde of any doctor. Bangalore is the best for urology. U can go to Chennai also it is too good & afforeable. Do not deley.
