I use a 1 year old Compaq presario laptop with the AMD chip for my real estate activity and a new IBM laptop with a mobile pentium for my mortgage activity. They both get lots of usage and often are used side by side. I honestly think the AMD is superior although they both work very nicely. My IBM laptop with the pentium also has twice the ram and 1/3 more processor speed yet I cannot tell the difference as they both work very fast.

Intel is the most experienced. Intel has good procesors that could be at the same level like Amd , in some cases Intel could be better then Amd and vice versa.

Intel for business, AMD for gaming. AMD for overclocking. This is just a general consensus among the geek community. In reality, I think both are admirable brands for both purposes. I just find that AMD's prices are slightly more competitive than Intel.

amd tends to make better processors for midrange level, but Intel has the edge at the moment with their core2 duo lineup.
