I have a hp 1410v all-in-one printer, scanner, copier. it was working fine, until this morning when I went to print something out, and it's like it uninstalled it's self. When I tried to re-install it, an error message pops up that says "Found new hardware wizard" "Cannot install this hardware" "An error occurred during the installation of this device. The printer driver is unknown." Can anybody help me? I can't understand how if the driver is "unknown" why has it been working fin for the last 4 months or so? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

AOL recently Updated the safety and security center , which is causing hindrance while installation of the all in one software. To resolve this issue , Uninstall the AOL safety and security center on your computer. by unplugging the USB cable between the printer and the computer. I assure you that this should resolve the issue.

For your convinience I am providing the steps to uninstall the Security suit.

Step 1
=====

Uninstallation of AOl software on your computer
================================================

Click Start > Control Panel > Add/remove programs.

Under Currently installed programs >> click AOL® UNINSTALLER >> Change/Remove
CHANGE/REMOVE button.

In the AOL® Uninstaller window

click the box next to AOL ANTIVIRUS,

AOL SPYWARE PROTECTION,

AOL FIREWALL to place a check mark in it,

then click the UNINSTALL button.

In the Confirm Install window, click the YES button.

Click the AOL SAFETY AND SECURITY CENTER box to place a check mark in it, then click the
UNINSTALL button. Click the YES button, then restart your computer when
prompted.

Step 2
=====

If the issue is not resolved with the above steps .

Perform the following steps

Install the Software first – Do Not Plug the USB cable when prompted continue the installation by selecting the option "connect the device later".
After completing the S/W installation, Click Start -> Run -> type MSCONFIG.
Click on the Services Tab.
Put a check mark on “Hide All Microsoft Services”.
Then Uncheck all the Services that are related to the the "AOL" in the same screen.
Click Apply, and clock Close.
Restart the computer as is instructs.
Now connect the USB cable, should install fine from there.
Go back to MSCONFIG and on the general tab select “Normal Start Up” to make all the services normal.
Restart the computer, try to print. . .. it should get installed and print.

If the software is already installed in the pc, unplug the Usb cable from pc, remove the printer icon from the Printers and Faxes, Uncheck the AOL services in the msconfig, restart the pc and plug back the USB Cable and continue with the Found New Hardware Wizard.

This problem may be due to one of the AOL services' influence on the Plug and play service, resulting some negative impact on it.

Ultimately this results improper USB enumeration and unsuccessful driver installation.

Please let me know if any issue gets resolved using the above mentioned steps.

"Found new hardware wizard" is good, it recognizes something is attached.
"Cannot install this hardware" states the hardware cannot be resolved to an existing driver.

Probably corrupt driver.

Take this opportunity to go to the manufacturer's site and download the most current driver for your printer.
This is also an ideal time to see if there is a bios upgrade available for your printer from this same site.

Install the latest driver -- sometimes you'll need to assure the old driver is removed (control panel >> add/delete programs).
If this is your case, check to assure you properly remove it -- remember, it's probably corrupt, but still installed on you PC.

i'm operating residing house windows VISTA also a HP Photosmart D7200 Printer. i stumbled on that the printer does not understand residing house windows ninety 8 so it replaced into unusable on my different computing gadget. So I had to apply it with VISTA. VISTA isn't backward like minded because the mind-set to writing information has replaced. get at the same time a 56MB Tiff record with residing house windows ninety 8 is basically 50MB with VISTA . It receives even more beneficial once you try to load previous software that you've used for decades, by way of the indisputable fact that is amazingly picky and picky.

I have been searching and experimenting all day on my parents computer for a solution to this problem (same message different HP printer). Uninstalling AOL safety and security worked for me. I even came across this page with the question on it earlier today, but it has just been updated with the working solution. Thanks a lot!

This must be a recent problem with the safety and security update considering both the difficulty finding a solution online and the date of this question coinciding with the start of this problem on my parent's computer. Because of past problems I always half-joke that any problem on their computer is because of AOL, but once again AOL has proven itself. An easy alternative to this software is using Windows Firewall, and a free virus and spyware program such as AVG or Windows Defender.

This happens sometimes, I have an HP All in one myself. Just reset your computer and see if that helps. If not you may have to remove and replace your printer driver software.

You may have to repair your o/s. Just run the o/s CD and select the repair (or update) option. It will get the file that is corrupted repaired.
