weapons, while Israel is the only country in the Middle East that has them? Wouldn't this create threats and inbalance in the region?

Please do not tell me that Israel is surrounded by 22 Arab countries because it is mostly Israel who has attacked its neighbours. I need a rational answers rather than ones full of hatred and curses.

from de_niro_t:

"If you have burned the Jews, why don't you give a piece of Europe, the United States, Canada or Alaska to Israel," Ahmadinejad said.
"Our question is, if you have committed this huge crime, why should the innocent nation of Palestine pay for this crime?"

That's a nice quote. I think he is right

Nothing is fair in today’s world as there are too many fights going on and most fights are man made, not written in stone in any religion(including Mr.Bush's), and I cannot believe that God likes us all to fight.. or does he?

See, Muslims are taught NEVER to FORCE any one to their religion or fight for such cause, and that everyone has a freedom to choose what they believe. If all the world religions can execute that in today’s world, I very much believe that the world would be peaceful for all (even with Iran and Israel have the best of the best Nuclear Powers)

I know, it is not fair since Jews are continously ill treating all Muslims/Arabs/Palestinians around the world in every country; and now Iran future is very very threaten, as Jewish powers are rising so high all over the world and Jews believe that GOD will GIVE them much more Arabs land -from Egypt to Iraq and Syria to Saudi Arabia- and the Jews will not rest until they get it all to fullfill GOD promise (according to Jewish clerics and some Israeli politicians)

So coming back to your question, is it fair for Iran not to get it? My answer, is yes it is fair since everyone is protective of their religion and aggressive to push their agenda/ideas/believes including but not limited to Iran, Israel, and Mr. Bush and to have such potential damaging technology around such ideologies is a problem to all humanity!!!

The current Republican administration would say it is because Iran has an unstable leader.

The Iranian leader is quoted as saying from CNN:

"They have invented a myth that Jews were massacred and place this above God, religions and the prophets," Ahmadinejad said in a speech to thousands of people in the Iranian city of Zahedan, according to a report on Wednesday from Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting.
"The West has given more significance to the myth of the genocide of the Jews, even more significant than God, religion, and the prophets," he said. "(It) deals very severely with those who deny this myth but does not do anything to those who deny God, religion, and the prophet."
"If you have burned the Jews, why don't you give a piece of Europe, the United States, Canada or Alaska to Israel," Ahmadinejad said.
"Our question is, if you have committed this huge crime, why should the innocent nation of Palestine pay for this crime?"

Though the original poster says not to fall on the argument that Israel is surrounded by 22 Arab nations, that quote alone should say that at least one of them (Iran) is definitely NOT friendly to Israel. And, for whatever reason, being unfriendly to Israel generally means being unfriendly to the United States (don't understand the reasoning or history behind that, I'm afraid).

It's just a recipe for escalation- giving Iran rights to nuclear technology. Personally, I would say it's just too risky. The Iranian leader really sounds much too militaristic to believably lobby for "peaceful nuclear energy."

Of course not...The UN and US are hypocritical as always...Israel still refuses to sign the NPT and recently Olmert admitted that Israel owns nuclear weapons. What did everyone do?Pretended that nothing happen...Israel used this summer uranium bombs in Lebanon. Why was there no outrage because of this?Iran might build a nuclear bomb and they might use it to attack a country in the future.Of course there is no proof for this, but hey, let's sanction Iran, just in case they think of doing it...
Unfortunately there will always be double standards when it comes to the countries in the Middle East...

When has Israel ever attacked anyone around them who has not been on the attack against Israel for more than 60 years????? Your analogy is inaccurate... If you think someone with the iron clad fist over the thinking of its populace, as is the case in Iran, perhaps you would reconsider the instability his attitude has created... continually thumbing his nose at the UN and the western civilized countries. Iran, with all its oil surely is not in need of nuclear power for its citizens. What would you guess is the intent of their denying and then going ahead with their plans covertly???? Then to make the statement that Babylon is to become the capital of the world.... should cause one ponder a bit. Not to overlook his statement about eliminating Israel!!!Get with it.. you seem to remain in a fog somewhere.

Let's be serious. There is no "possibility" of Iran producing nuclear weapons. They already have them. As do most countries. You see, our government and the U.N. pretend to not know other governments have them and the other governments pretend they don't know we are pretending we don't know they have them. Plausible deniability.

If we "know" then the U.N. knows and when everyone "knows" there is no reason to hide activity and no reason to hold back from using or threatening use of the technology. By using plausible deniability and then sanctioning for possibilities, we are basically "closing the barn door BEFORE the horses escape." After all, if the horse are already gone, why bother shutting the door?

Sanctions aren't brought about because someone has the capability for producing nuclear power. They are brought because places like Iran and North Korea don't want to follow the rules that all countries must abide by when it comes to nuclear power. Just like when saddam hussein would not let the inspectors in during the early 90's. That is total bullshit. These crazy "leaders" need to have immediate consequences to their actions. As for your information on Israel attacking surrounding countries unprovoked, you are showing your ignorance.

Israel has always received special support from the United States. It always covers for them, and allowed Israel to break the Non-Proliferation Treaty, and yet Iran is being condemned... sounds like something is definitely wrong, I agree.

In Iran's case, yes unfortunately.

He brandishes his nuclear club membership

in a way that is unsettling to his neighbors, even his

allies. If there was an ACTUAL club

that the nuclear nations leaders met at,I would imagine

him appearing a little like officer Rod Farva from the movie "Super Troopers." "Open bar dude!"

loose cannon.

Then,He goes into this whole Holocaust denial thing

which I later realized is a perrenial favorite side-dish topic in muslim

elections and they just had one.Still,it's reprehensible

coming from a leader that aspires to be a player

on the world's stage to tow this extremly stupid

denial line.

This man has all this power and it appears to

me that at some point,he will grossly missuse it.

I hope I'm wrong.
