Yes. You didn't create tobacco and didn't create peoples' inability to control themselves, therefore you aren't responsible for the actions of the company.

If people have an issue with your employer, it's on them, not you.

Working For A Tobacco Company

2016-11-08 01:47:45 · answer #2 · answered by ? 4 · 0 0

Dear God! have we gotten to the point that doing and honest days work for an honest days pay can now cause some guilty pathology?

If you worked for Krylon would you feel guilty because huffers were sniffing paint?

Tobacco is a natural product it is not illegal and for Gods sake no one has ever been forced to use it!

People are responsible for there own actions! It is called personal responsibility! I know that in today's world of; "I need the government to protect me from cradle to grave" this is not politically correct. But don't let the whiny, sniveling leftist give you some kind of complex.

If you worked at 7-eleven and someone wanted to buy a carton of Marlboro's would you feel complicit?

Get over it, We are not causing global warming! Tobacco Companies are not responsible for people CHOOSING to use their products, just like Krylon is not responsible for huffers sniffing paint!

Under terms of a Master Agreement agreed to years ago with the states and I believe the federal government, tobacco companies agreed to end ALL forms of tobacco advertising in sporting arenas of all types including racing. While it is true that kids will smoke regardless, your concern seems to be more the fact that NASCAR teams don't have sponsors rather than public health.

Where do ethics come into play? Nobody forces people to smoke, it's their choice. A tobacco company is simply providing a product for people who want it. It's common knowledge that smoking can kill you, so if people still want to smoke, why should'nt they be allowed?

Sure. Lots of people work for companies where they may not agree ethically with what the company sells or does. It's up to you and what you are comfortable with.

Yes, because you need to support your family. If you are single, then you can change your job.

The people that may seem to be more guilty, would be the madison avenue folk, who encourage people to want things that they do not need.

Second hand smoke is worse than smoking oneself, IMO. Also: Two men who died of lung cancer, had hobbies which made smoking more dangerous ... photography/art.

Smoke gets in your friends' clothing and in their lungs, even if you may live to be over 80. Your teeth will also likely suffer and need to be pulled.

Back to your question though: Is there any industry that doesn't pollute, or, that doesn't harm its workers. Some firms are even providers of anti-Christian products, or have death wielding policies.

Try to find another job if you are going against your conscience (which is God/an inner voice talking to you.)

No, even if your job wasn't ordinary, it isn't like that if you choose not to work there, that they would immediately cease operation. so it makes no difference as another person would still grab this job. so why not just make use of the opportunity that you have been given.
