Basically make sure she stays within that budget and doesn't go over it. I think it is a great idea.

I don't like handling money. My wife does all the buying, anything and as much as she cares to. Why should I keep her within a budget ? She's intelligent enough to do that herself.
Just between the two of us, I think your great idea stinks.

Depends on whether someone should have an "allowance" at all. I know a couple of couples that have something like that, I am uncertain as to what they do at Christmas.

dudee...wife or girl friend...i thnk instead of givin her an "allowance" so to say, u cud take her out on a surprise christmas shoppin trip along wid u...she'll feel special...n u cud control da billls...n plus...u can hav some quality time togethr...
