I'm white and I'm dating a black women. We agree with each other on most things. But our music tastes are different. I'm into death metal, she's into hip hop and R&B, mainly R&B. I haven't noticed any other differences between us except that one. Does anyone think it will work out.

Is music your only issue? I feel that you and maybe her need to evaluate where you guys are postitioned in life. If you both are serious about being in a relationship, I don't think differences in music should matter. Things to REALLY consider in a long term relationship should be an issue. It's okay for you guys to be individuals with your own differences in a relationship. Ask what you value out of a relationship like monogamy, religion or having kids or living together, or honesty just things of that nature. If you genuinely feel like you have a wonderful person in your grasp who adores you but you guys like different music then I suggest you evaluate if you are either nervous about this relationship or you grasping for straws to get out of this relationship. I hope this makes sense and everything works out for the best.

It will work out if it works out. While I think a persons musical interests do say something about who they are it doesn't define who they are.

On a seperate note..Being in a relationship with someone is about more than sharing the things you have in common. It's also about sharing things with each other that make you unique to each other. Overtime she could instill in you a love for berry white(IDK??) and you for her a passion for slipknot that neither of you ever knew existed.

Overall just enjoy what you can and leave the rest at the door.

Death metal and R&B? Its like Howard Stern meets Oprah.

There might be hope but it should involve both of you. You need to talk about it. Probably both of you could get your own earphones so that you can both listen to your own music without annoying the other. But later on, both of you should appreciate each others music even a bit. My boyfriend likes stage plays and some musicals but I don't. I sometimes go along with him in plays only to fall asleep. Later on I got to appreciate it but not totally.

material matters and things that you each like shouldn't matter when it comes to your love for each other. They do say opposites attract for a reason. I'm married and my wife and I listen to different music, like diff movies, and really when it comes down too it we don't agree on some stuff but that doesn't change the way I feel about her. You just have to learn to compromise with each other. for ex: my wife and I both decide what we do and do not. I think things will work out as long as you and her truly feel for one another.

Yes, it will work out. Other couples are different in many ways and it works for them. I don't think this little different can stop ur relationship from working.

If music is the only disagreement, you should not have any
problems ( other than racism ) with the relationship.
