I consider myself educated on world affairs, but I have always been ignorant on this topic. I have heard he is guilty of Human Rights viloations, can anyone provide me a list of exactly what those violations are? Other than the fact he is a communist, I don;t know much about him

Castro's true crime was taking over a country that American business had billions invested in. When he came to power a lot of very powerful Americans lost a lot of money. I am in no way defending him and he should definitly answer for the human rights violations but the US is very quick to vilify Castro for human rights abuses but we cozy up to China, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Pakistan and a host of countries with worse human right records. And lets not forget that the US is not innocent on the human rights front. Its actually ironic that we detain prisoners without due process, torture and deny trials to humans on Cuban soil.

Other that minor things like the "Human Rights violations" He picked the wrong side... He could have had a pretty decent country otherwise.

His people are ideologically oppressed and kept in poverty. Why do you think so many of them are willing to risk their lives on the open seas for 90 miles just to make it to America?

He has jailed and put to death all those who oppose his rule. Imagine it Bush jailed and/or killed all of the liberals in this country.
