I always hear that straight guys are comfortable around gay guys. Even if they say or do anything they won't feel threaten. I want to know why is this and why can't every straight guy be like this?

If one don't have any problem in personal preferences, meaning there is no doubt what so ever in my mind that I like the same sex, there shouldn't be any problem to hang out with a gay dude as long as he don't cross the line and make indecent approaches out of line. I have gay friends and sometimes they do that and it does not bother me to listen to it the first but if its more than once I stop them and let them know that bothers me and after that there is no problem. Gay Bashers are unsecured of their preferences they can't stand seen you been free and they don't have the courage to come out so they hate. It's just the way people are...

First of all, let me congratulate you on being so open with this question. It says a lot about your character. I think you have to be honest with yourself about why you are afraid to speak to gay men. My guess is that you fear you will be misinterpreted and they may hit on you. You probably also fear a backlash from straight men if you associate with gay men in any way. So ask yourself - what is the worst thing that could happen? Would a guy hitting on you be the end of the world? Couldn't you just tell him you're straight and that would be the end of it? What is the worst thing that other straight men would think? Would you really care if another man thought you were gay when you aren't? Isn't that a little juvenile? Imagine all the worst case scenarios and then realize that people are just people. You are missing out on some wonderful contacts if you limit yourself to only the straight community. There are some very smart, talented gay men out there who would make excellent friends for any man.

Um! Dont you mean the other way around..I think 85 percent of straight men would feel uncomfortable around an openly gay man..unless they know them..especially a redneck..or bigot.

you heard WRONG, you have it backwards.

I some some close gay friends and it is all very natural and comfortable. Just be yourself and you will make straight friends. Personally I am very uncomfortable about a gay guy who acts like a girl.

Why wouldn't I be comfortable around them? It's not something that is a threat. Maybe if it was a gay guy holding a gun, then maybe I'd be uncomfortable.
