I cant scan for a virus or anything before it restarts...can anyone help me with this?

OS error - did you try to hold the power button for 5 seconds - that might helps on some type of laptop

I can give you a link that deals with hard drive problems.
Some drive problems can be easily fixed by yourself using easily available tools. I found the info at http://fixit.in useful. Try this site, if you can get what is required

During power on, select 'safe mode' ... that might allow you to run virus check etc.
