The graphics are just fine but I can't the sound to work properly. I've tried multiple options in the setup file but all I get is other no sound and all or a beep whenever I shoot a gun, a door opens, etc.

Doom 2 was designed to run under DOS and not Windows, so you might have some difficulty getting it to run 100%. Fortunately, there's a community that can help you with older games and get them running under XP. It seems Doom 2 has been figured out completely so go take a look at DosBox!

Since you never mentioned what sound card you have, all I can think of at the moment is running a test on the card, and also contacting the manufacturer and id Software for help on configuration.

Sorry, I don't know. My husband got me to answer this question and once I got here, he told me he didn't know either. Probably needs to be configured for soundblaster or soundblaster pro in set up options or what ever they call it. Hubby says he had that problem too.
