I'm assuming this means a colicky baby? One who cries a lot? First of all, your nervousness will only make it worse. Second, if the baby is, he/she will grow out of it. So, just make sure that the baby is: fed, burped, changed and in comfortable clothing at a comfortable temperature. Then, when he/she is crying for no reason, you can walk the house secure in the knowledge that you've done what you can and the baby's crying is not because you aren't doing something right. Just let the baby cry. If you feel yourself getting frustrated or angry because the baby is crying. Put the baby in the crib and give yourself a 10 minute time-out. This is preferable to getting so frustrated that you are tempted to shake the baby to get them to stop because you can cause serious brain damage by doing so.
Odds are that your new sibling will not be a colicy baby and will just be cute, cuddly and tons of fun.
Merry Christmas!!!!

Well babies aren't cocky. Just do your best as a big sister and take care of the baby. Every baby has a personality but I've never heard of a newborn being cocky. Good luck

Colicky you mean. Make sure you burp the baby after being fed, change it, make it comfortable, or try placing the baby in a swing (if the baby is old enough).
But why should you be worried about something that hasn't happened yet. Your not the mother and should not have to deal with such issues. Helping out is great but when the baby is overly fussy your mom is the best person to handle things from that point on.

First of all what is your mom going to be busy with? What could be more important than caring for the baby herself? It sounds like your a little nervous with the thought of caring for this little person. It is a big responsibility for anyone, even mom. When you do choose to help out and the baby is fussy,, just check that the baby is Dry, Not hungry, Burped, and comfortably dressed.. If he or she is still fussy, wrap him snuggly and hold him upright on your shoulder, pat or rub his back gently and use soothing words, walk around the house doing this and your baby should calm down. Let you mom know your concerns, she is a mom after all, she should comfort you. : )

Most likely the baby won't be colicky.
I have the feeling that you are nervous about all of the responsibility being placed on you. Even parents have those fears and worries so don't be afraid to express your apprehension.
Sometimes the hospital will offer parenting courses for first-time parents. A class might be just what you need to feel more confident about your future job. Ask your mom about it or call the hospital directly.
You'll do fine.

The secret to dealing with a baby that is colicy or crying is to just speak softly and remain calm. The baby can feel when you are upset and it just makes them even more upset and they will cry even more. Speak to them in a soothing voice, sing softly and try to make things a game in a sing song voice. You should have things under control in no time.
Good luck to you

A friend of mine had a colichy baby and she delt with it for so long and one day she and her hubby went on vacation and left baby with Gma and she was breast feeding so she had to leave formula. She came back and the baby was not the same baby. As it turned out, the breast milk made her tummy upset

BABYWEARING!!!
I cannot recommend it enough! Eight years of taking care of babies has made me so thankful for babywearing.
I recommend that you check it out, and show your mum- definately practice with a doll, once the baby is here you should be really good at it, and will be able to wearing your little brother or sister, without worrying that you will drop him or her!
Plus, while they are very little, and mum needs to nurse alot, she will still have her hands free to do other things.
Some great website for learning babywearing:
www.mamatoto.org
www.thebabywearer.com
and since you are on Yahoo- you can check out the yahoo groups dedicated to babywearing, and find other mum's and dad's near you who do it. :)

DO you mean COLICKY?
If you don't you have to tell that baby that it isn't all that. Look how it just sits there and poops its pants. And it can't even feed itself. They don't have any reason to be cocky.
