Americans are a patient people, we usually wait until the last minute when we see things are not going to change, example the Boston Tea Party. We waited to gather enough people before taking action. I think were a climatic group. Now, I think were waiting to see what our government will do pertaining to illegal aliens, before we step in ourselves. But we're hanging on a tight thread here. Republicans didn't act fast enough concerning illegals, and the demo-craps were elected because people wanted an end to the Iraq war. They should see by now, that isn't going to happen. It was a great mistake to elect liberals into office, since their motto is to help the poor, raise taxes, and allow illegals into this country, and give them welfare.
It is Mr. Bush who put a regulation on welfare, that even if you have more children, you cannot get more money on welfare, like those who were on it could before.
Concerning illegals, things are just starting to happen now, deportation, and arrests. I hope it is not just a tease, to appease the people until we find a new topic to complain, and be upset about. However, with the strong will of the American people, we will not forget how we have been used and abused by our counterparts, ILLEGAL aliens, so for Congress' best interest, they had best know the American peoples desires, and make them so, or they're in for a messy war! We won't be patient much longer.
God Bless America!

Many reasons, one in particular is the fact that the so-called media, socialist politicians, many Industrialists, and special interest groups... have been utilizing propaganda as a tool to dumb down the gullible uneducated general public in order to establish the "New World Order" of which is a massive world government, of which there will only be two classes of people, extremely powerful and wealthy, and extremely poor and stupid. In essence the world populace will be slaves for the NWO leaders, and will have lost the will to fight for freedom via the extensive brainwashing composed by the heads of the NWO... It may sound crazy, but it's the pitiful truth:(

Because "we the people" have lost control of our government. It is now run by the wealthy elitists, the giant U.S. military-industrial complex, the lackadaisical media, and the corrupt politicians. When we 'vote', we still honestly believe we've made a difference in the outcome of our political system. Untrue.
The powers-behind-the-scenes have turned gullible Americans into robots who worry more about Britney Spears' baby than we do about our nation's future. Most Americans can tell you the name of Madonna's newest release, but can't name their own Congressman. We focus on "low prices -everyday" at WalMart for junk we don't need; movie stars' latest love children; how much money our favorite football player makes; or the latest rankings of our favorite NASCAR driver, but we don't pay any attention at all to how the elite and the wealthy are taking away our rights, privileges and freedoms. -RKO-

Because there is a lack of leadership in this country. There is a lack of someone who can stand up, communicate well with us all about the direction that our nation should move in and then lead us there. We keep electing people of questionable moral fiber (Clinton) and people who, while intelligent, are just not leaders (both Bush's). We need someone who is optimistic, someone who isn't afraid to say that this is the greatest country on earth. We the people need to be more selective.

Because WE are refusing to see what is going on! We've gotten away from Christian values, we don't recognize evil any more, we'd rather be appeasers than stand up against it. We no longer are patriotic because of our dislike for one president and rather than try to bring the two parties togeather we rather fight against each other. We don't see morales as having any weight anymore cause it interferes in what we want . We've become greedy, self centered and don't care about others. I'm going to write a book!

Because the system is set up in a way that only two parties have a reasonable chance to win.
And all of the political reform measures must pass through the politicians who are elected via this system. Why would they change it?

I don't know as WE are. We go to the polls to try and elect someone who "promises" to do better, etc. but rarely does that happen. Then we are stuck with them till next election and we try all over again. We need another "Boston Tea Party" to let our officials know we are sick of them. Will we ever get some honest people in government??? referendums are included at the polls, we clearly state what our opinions are and they do as they damn well please anyway and justify it somehow or hide it somehow under some big words. I'm with you !!!!!!!

Do you think we are? In what way? I think things are still going pretty well, at least where I live. You'll have to be more specific about the ways in which you think our country is going to hell.

mc24work is right. 40% vote. that means it only takes less than 21% of the people to elect someone. that's 1/5 of the population determining the fate of themselves plus the remaining 4/5 of us.
