Santa exists if we want him to. its that simple. If you beleive that the president actually has control, then you can beleive in Santa.

No, don't stop believing in something just because of what others think. They have no right to judge or ridicule your opinions in the first place, because they are just that- YOUR opinions, no one else's. Whether you believe in Santa Claus as a man who lives at the north pole, bringing gifts to children every year, or as that little bit of good within everyone that you so rarely see nowadays, that random act of kindness, that little thing to brighten up someone's day. Whatever it is that you choose to believe should be what you truly do believe, not what other people tell you to.
[Edit]
And to the person below me- She asked an honest question and wanted an honest answer, not a lesson in your religion. She has her opinions and her beliefs, and if in your mind she's going to Hell, that's all fine and dandy, but don't superimpose your god onto her for it. Now, I realize that I'm probably not going to stop you from preaching, but at least have the decency not to do it to a 10 year old girl. Get off your high horse and accept that not everyone shares your point of view, and that your's probably isn't even true.
And on a side note, how is Jesus any more real than St. Nikolaus if he died around 2,000 years ago and his body "disappeared" shortly after his death?

How very sad for you that you are not Christian, and believe in Santa. Why do you think we celebrate Christmas? Its the birth of Jesus. How can you NOT believe? It makes no since really that you are NOT Christian because of your grandfather, you would think that you would want to believe, and try to help your mother see the right way. Christmas is a magical time of year, and magically has nothing to do with Santa, it has to do with a miracle, which is Jesus being born. You still believe in Santa because you don't believe in Jesus. Santa is fake, Jesus is real...plain and simple as that.

Santa Claus represents a false happiness - one that's based upon phoniness. Stop believing in Santa Claus and come to the understanding that people do misrepresent Christianity, but you can be a different sort of person.

Saint Nicholas was a real person, from whom the character of Santa Claus has developed. He was a Christian in one of the Scandanavian countries who loved to give. And he did.
So. . . if you want to stop believing in "Santa Claus" that is good, but NEVER stop believing in the power of giving. You ought to always give to those who need to receive from you. That is what Saint Nicholas did, and more important, it is what GOD does!!

I find it surprising that you still believe in Santa :). I am an atheist, and do not believe in God or Santa Claus, but I enjoy Christmas because it is a time to get together with people and enjoy their company. I don't think you need superstition to have a good time during the holidays.

Santa, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy all belong to the same Union. If you stop beleiving in one of them they will all boycott you.

I hope you do not stop. I am 60 and am anxiously awaiting his arrival in the morning. Don't worry about what your granpa did. Santa Claus likes everyone. Also don't worry about the lowlife on here who call themselves atheists. They do not even know what it means. And the one who uses profanity is just a slobbering dropcase.
