Merry Christmas everyone, thought I'd ask a non-threatening question in the spirit of the season.....

The blue color of the sky is due to Rayleigh scattering. As light moves through the atmosphere, most of the longer wavelengths pass straight through. Little of the red, orange and yellow light is affected by the air.

However, much of the shorter wavelength light is absorbed by the gas molecules. The absorbed blue light is then radiated in different directions. It gets scattered all around the sky. Whichever direction you look, some of this scattered blue light reaches you. Since you see the blue light from everywhere overhead, the sky looks blue.

Its because when the light from the sun hits the protons and things in the sky every color of the spectrum passes through the gases except for blue. This is then radiated all through the sky. Look here

tHE thermo or something-blah sphere is made up of oxegen or something that causes the sky to look blue.

space isnt balck, its only balck cos there is no light. the sky is blu cos of the atmosphere layer

because when we look up, we don't see space, we see the earth's atmosphere which from many outer space picture, appears blue!
