Some new software you have recently installed is causing a problem.

Simplest solution: If you can remember the software program you last installed, uninstall it.

Alternative solution: Use System Restore to "roll back" your computer to a time prior to when you were getting the error.

Start --> Help And Support Center

Under Pick A Task, choose Undo changes to your computer with System Restore and follow the instructions

such errors often occur if add-ons to IE6 you collected over time do not really work the way they should.
try to disable additional programs you downloaded and installed within IE6 like toolsbars and other 'little helpers'

you can find those gizmo's in
IE6 -tools - options - programs - addons
there you can check which 'extended unwanted functionality' is running besides IE6 and in doubt disable them if you are not sure what they are good for.

its also a good idea to check for spyware and other malicious stuff on your PC, cause obviously some 'extended functionality' has already took a portion of your IE6 and it behaves like being a little possesed by it, huh ?

its not a bug .. its a feature

I had a similar problem a few days ago. I used all kind of softwares to find malwares and my computer came up clean. I was suspecting real memory problems until I downloaded something called taskmanager17.exe. It found a high-risk hidden process that's running on my computer and this process was created just a few days ago (by looking at the property of this process). So I searched for all the files created on that date, found two hidden .DLL files with similar names, deleted them and my problem was solved.

it must be brought about through a toolbar or upload-on which you have have been given extra to internet Explorer. you may checklist and do away with them by kit -> manage upload-ons (in IE7), or kit -> internet ideas -> courses tab -> manage upload-ons... (in IE6). you additionally can run internet Explorer with all of the upload-ons disabled: click start up -> All courses -> upload-ons -> gadget kit, and then click internet Explorer (No upload-ons). in case you're on internet Explorer 6, it particularly is worth upgrading to 7.

Uninstall IE6. Get Firefox. Never use a Microsoft product if a suitable program from another vendor is available.

Wow, it looks like Bill Gates and his "wife" came though and gave everyone who suggested Firefox two thumbs down.

dhvrm-you probably don't even know which one is the "any" key.

Perhaps upgrading to IE7 will fix this. Use Windows Update to do so. Then, immediately download Firefox or Opera and make that your default browser.

Try uninstalling, and reinstalling the program. The program basically does not shut down all the way and therefore returns an error.

Upgrade to IE 7.0 first of all, and check with Microsoft to se if there is a problem/complaint already issued for this. If no luck, it could be YOUR computer (A virus/Trojan etc) or simply bad memory in your computer.
