This could be many things. It could be over-heating, which reseting the heatsink/fan and applying thermal past can fix, it can be a bad power supply, it can be bad ram, or a bad motherboard all together.
The best bet, since these can be costly, is to take it to the local computer shop, and see if they can test your hardware for you so you can replace only the pieces needed.

Most common cause of "shut downs" like that is overheating. With the computer off, open the case and carefully clean the inside with a can of compressed air and a DRY rug. Especially get the dust and dirt off all the fans and openings so that you get good air flow through the case. That will usually resolve the issue.

some computer applications have a feature to auto-save the document. ms-word has this feature back to ms-office 4.2.
if your computer shuts down? it could be anything that someone changed a setting inside the desktop computer. thats if the anti-virus has not caught a malicious program yet.

You dont provide your PC's specifications.
Anyway, I also experience that kind of problem.
Maybe you have a low SDRAM. Try upgrading your computer's memory.
For the meantime, you may dis-fragment your hard-drive to gain your PC's memory.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
