After years of using computer programs, I have found that most anti-virus / spyware programs are NOT the same. Some find things others do not. Personally, I would suggest, PC tools Spyware Doctor or Search and Destroy (Free).

I suggest that you try to carryout system restore to a day previous to the day when there was no virus or any problems. It may be a few weeks or months back. You have to decide the date. Detailed instructions are posted at http://fixit.in/systemrestore.html
The problem is likely to be solved. Then,You insatll a standard antivirus soft ware such as Norton, AVG , Avast ( free antivirus software and Ad-aware, Ewido ( free spyware removers). You can download free softwares at
http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html

I have located and used various free software to remove sypware etc. The best I have found is from microsoft. It not only locates the spyware and unwanted programs that have been unknowingly installed on your computer by visiting various unethical sites, it also removes them. You can retrieve your own free version here.
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx
then go here to learn to use it:

Good Luck and Merry Christmas!

Do not use Norton. Norton in turn slows down your computer considerably with the amount of services it installs.
Download the trial version of Eset NOD 32. (www.eset.com)
Also, try googling for SpySweeper.
They are handy tools to have around.

First, a firewall can no longer disinfect a working laptop or computer, it could in basic terms avert assaults thtough one attack vector, assaults on your computer ports. 2d, there are very very nearly 1500 diverse variations of the Zlob trojan, I advise you persist with the advise through "enormous Chris" above.
