Ok, I work at animal control. Oftentimes we get in so many animals that all we can do is put them to sleep. We follow code, all euth's are done painlessly, but a friend and I would like to make better us of the resources we are left with after performing the euth. We are thinking of using some of the fatter cats for meat, maybe some sausage. We are partly vietnamese so as weird as this sounds to you, it is not to us. What are some good ways to cook up cat meat? I know some recipes from my gradmother but I'm thinking of something more American, like sausage or hamburger meat. What do you think?
I asked this same question yesterday but for some reason didn't get many helpful responses. Please help I'd really like to try some of the cats we have laying around. Thanks!

Please reread more carefully, I am not saying I am going to feed these cats to other people, sell the meat or feed them to other dogs and cats. I want to EAT THEM MYSELF!!! LIKE A GOOD OLD AMERICAN BAR-B-QUE!! Thanks, and please read more carefully on your other questions!

You could be treading into a really HOT bed of fiery coals if the residences, and or other animal rights people find out that you are doing this.
If you are working at any governmental facility, there could be one HELL of a public "backlash".
If you work for a private source, you can face "criminal" charges and be fined, or jailed.
If you were following the laws, as I believe they are written, there are proper ways to dispose of dead carcases.
There are reasons that there are regulations concerning dog and cat foods, for what they contain and used for.
That is why certain formulas of food are only available at the veterinarian's office and not available in the general retail market.
If things are that bad that you are considering using other peoples deceased pets and stray pick-ups for this purpose, something is very wrong with the management of this facility.
Donations of food are always welcomed, encouraged, and asked for by many,many shelters.
Have a "Food Drive", with something like free micro-chipping for every 100# of dog or cat food donated.
Please don't go the route you ask about, that's just disrespectful for the animals and the society in general, plus it probably is against the law.

I think it's a great idea, because there is no way to inactivate euthanasia solution, so after a hearty helping of tabby tabuli or tomcat tamales, you would drift off into a peaceful sleep. You would never wake up and go back to bothering us with such stupid questions!!!

years ago a vets in animal shelters were noticing that it took more and more drug to euthanize animals so they did a study and found out that cheap pet food which contained euthanized animals was passing on the drug and makeing these animals build up a form of immunity to the stuff they use to euthanize animals
for this reason previously euthanized animals should not be used as pet food
also feeding or eating of animals who eat other animals (as opposed to those who eat plants only) is a greater risk of diseases like the Mad Cow disease which started by feeding animals to cows...then people eating cows....
anyhow if population doesnt get under control in 50 years scientists think we will all be eating cat and dog anyhow becuase their wont be farm land for beef
* you cant eat euthanized animals becuase of the problem with YOU injesting the drug used on them...

what idiots! you do know this is AMERICA!!! here we dont eat cat....we enjoy cats company, not the way they taste! even if you do this NOone will buy it because we are AMERICANS!!! oh & the reason you didnt get many helpful responses is because once again we dont eat cat! if you want to do this go back to your country! & one more thing YOU CANT MAKE COOKING CAT MORE AMERICAN!

I would say it is inappropriate plus the drugs used to put animal down may be harmful to you.

from what i have heard, the haunches (hind legs) make great kabob meat. just cut it into bite size cubes, marinate it with your favorite herbs and spices, put it on a skewer with red onion, yellow summer squash, and mushrooms and put on the grill. let it cook slowly, so the meat can remain tender, and enjoy!!
