Politeness is not about telling but about asking. All you need to do is to go and knock on your neighbours door and ask for permission to play your Cliff Richard music for a certain period of time which may be an hour or more. Remember it is you who likes that music and not them hence you have to hear their reasons that is if they turn down your request.
However, all this would be nothing if you were always in good books with your neighbour throughout the year, but you choose to be neighbourly only around the festive period which to me is not neighbourly at all. Respect the wishes of your neighbours and they in turn will respect yours. Merry Christmas!

Of course you can tell your neighbour to turn the music but is much nicer and certainly causes less aggravation if you just ask politely. Remember this must only be a request in unsociable hours.
