It's because of the Cpu usage I think. What can I do to lower the Cpu usage of a program?

Do you mean the computer freezes? Especially if this happens while playing graphics intensive programs like computer games, it could be the system overheating. Open up your computer and take a look at your graphics card. Make sure the fan is still spinning. Often, these cheap fans burn out and stop spinning. They no longer cool the graphics card. The card overheats, causing the system to freeze. Only a hard reboot fixes this and that only until the system overheats again. The solution is to either buy a new fan and replace this on your card. This is cheap but not an option for people who don't know what they are doing. Or, you can buy a new graphics card for a couple hundred bucks, pull the old one out and put the new one in.

The graphics card, btw, is that card your monitor cable plus in to. You will notice a little fan sitting directly on top of it.

Unfortunately I dont have the answer your looking for, but I have the same problem!! I need to know if you use " Dial Up"? because I do, and I am always having my PC freeze up on me.. I too must just turn the power off, and cold boot it. I know thats not a cool thing to do, but I have no choice! My mouse pointer doesnt even work ~ What is a Cpu? I'm not up on computer lingo, so maybe if you could tell me, " I could try this option " to try and help mine out. Also, is your PC a 98'model? Well, if you get any good answers, pass them on, ok? I bet you just need to clean it up.

Update and run your Anti-Virus program. Don't have one? You can run a free online scan from Trendmicro. When I have tested it it takes some time to run it but it may be time well spent if it can fix any problems.

Download and run http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Download, update and run Spybot---http://www.safer-networking.org/ . Don't forget to use the Immunize feature.

Download, update and run Adaware---http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/products/select_your_product.php

Download SpywareBlaster---http://majorgeeks.com/download2859.html

SpywareBlaster doesn't scan and clean for spyware - it prevents it from ever being installed.

It's main features include:
- Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
- Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
- Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.

Download RegScrubXP--http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=2048

Safely cleans junk out of the Windows 2000/XP system registry. All changes made to the registry are fully restorable to it's original condition. You can make an exclusion list of registry entries that RegScrubXP will not display as problems. You can sift through a list of file extensions, company names, run upon startup programs, Internet Explorer history, and uninstall programs to delete what you think is junk.

Download CleanUp---http://www.stevengould.org/software/cleanup/

Free disk space, make your computer run better/faster and protect your privacy - all in one easy solution. All for free!

Then do a disk clenup and disk defrag.

Start>all programs>accessories>system tools>Disk Cleanup

Follow the same patha and do a Disk Defrag.

A free, safe program called Advanced Windows Care might do the trick. Best of luck

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
