When people say "that is soo last year" (lol) does that mean your afraid to wear it because a selected few have "decided" what is in and what is out? I'm more "womanly" and not EVEN close to being a tomboy.
Personally, I like wearing what I want to wear. And frankly, I'll set my own trend and yes people will like it.

Anyone else feel me on this?

Yah....I'm with you, wear what you like...even though its so last year....you know what smells nice on you...or what you look good in. Style changes so quickly...does anyone really stay up to date anyway...who care as long as feel good!!

Merry Christmas!!!

The people who say things like "that was soooooo last year" are so insecure that they let the fashion gurus control their lives and their money. Very very long ago in my life (like when I was in college - and I'm 49 years old now) I decided that I would just wear whatever the heck I wanted. Sometimes a new style comes out and I love it - and buy it and put it on. But only if I want to do that. I feel no joy in being a fashion plate. I still own some clothes with shoulder pads in them - and WEAR THEM!! Forget about last year - lets talk TWO DECADES ago.

I don't know if you read the Lemony Snicket books or not - but there is a horrid woman in that series named Esme Squalor - and she is very concerned about what's "in" and what's "out". It was WONDERFUL to read those books with my pre-teen - and have her see how STUPID the people who follow trends can be! It worked to an extent. She's 12 now and asked for Abercrombie and Hollister clothing for Christmas. Understandable though. When you're 12 your entire life is about fitting in and not being embarressed.

But - hopefully - she'll find her own sense of style soon - and that will be that.

So - yes - I am right with you on this!

It's crazy! I always go to the stores and get the things that are out of "style" they are so cheap compared to the retail prices! The markdowns are unbelievable. At Old Navy I get $4 and $3 shirts, shorts and skirts that are no longer in style that previously were $18 and up. I get twicw as much. And nobody even notices! I always get compliments. I wear whatever I think is cute and have no desire to try to wear whatever is "in".
