It's this slightly curved, boxy-looking off-white thing. You buy XBox 360 games, and you put those games in the XBox 360, and then you can play them. :)
Seriously, though, you're looking at the most "matured" next-generation console--there are more games for it, and a well-established online service. With any luck you got the Premium system, which includes a wireless controller and a hard drive. You'll probably want to invest in an additional controller if you're the type who plays video games with other people. "Gears of War" appears to be the showcase title for the XBox 360, so you might consider getting that.

I've had one for a year. Awesome graphics especially if you have a display that'll do 720p. As far as games go: Oblivion (if you are detail oriented) & Gears of War are must gets. The wireless controllers are awesome. The quick charge kit is a must get:
