tryed control panel n switched to english but still no joy also my @ symbol is on number 2 key ???

just press shift 3 not shift n 3
you could also go to Microsoft word go to menu on top select insert then special character or symbol and find the pound sign then just copy and paste were you need it
here they are of you cant find them ##############

Go to Start - Control Panel - Date,Time, Language & regional settings, set to UK English.

Are you using a word processing program? If so, try looking in Options (from the Tools menu) and see if you can set your keyboard to UK English. hope this works.

Sounds as though the keyboard is set fro the american characters, go to keyboard and change language settings.

Go to the start menu, open programs, accessories then look down to seeif you have an on screen keypad, works wonders

Your PC doesn't think its got a USA keyboard rather than UK keyboard plugged in?
UK K/board shift+3 = £
US K/board shift+3 =#

Look in settings somewhere, to see how it's configured...

Just done it on my PC, (XP) clicked on Language bar (square with EN in it) in task bar.
clicked on 'English (united kingdom)' I get £££'s
clicked on 'English (united states)' i get ###'s

to find the pound sign press shift hold it then 3 hope it helps

You keyboard is probably set to the US standard which doesnt have a £ sign on it! (Silly americans)

Set it to the UK keyboard and it will be fine
