Most people are afraid of being alone and many will NEVER go to a movie or eat in a restaurant alone.

I say not so. It's great being out there on your own, you develop character, trust and independence. Go for it.

It isn't always considered a bad thing.
There is a quote that I'm trying to remember, I'll get back to you.
It was something about something, and it mentioned something about the modern man and how he cannot sit alone in a dark room. So there are some people who still think that being alone is a positive thing.

I personaly hate being alone, but I was forced to be for a number of months.

Outside of work, all I had to go home to was a empty three bedroom house filled with memories, painfull ones. Normaly this situation would drive someone insaine. I had to do something to bide my time till I could get out of there and go to a more reliant place. I started my hobbies again. Cooking, gardening, sculpting. For those months my sketch journal was blank, noting in my head to express. It was what I could do to find myself, since I have reflected myself off of others for so long.

Since then I have found a new goal, a career choice that I would enjoy. Sometimes it is alright to be alone, as it is good to always have friends around you, even loved ones. One needs balance.

I love being along and doing all the things I love to do and I never get lonely.

We live at a time when most elderly persons are expected to be alone. It is easy as most your age can go before you do and that adjustment has got to be made, but I know several in my shoes.
I just hope every one is as happy as I am and I am not afraid. I am not even afraid of death or any thing else.

Who said that? I love being alone because I could think more and have time to relax after a week of standing and working hard. So being alone is something I always wish to have for myself.

What's bad about that? Who wants to be around noisy yapping losers who want to co-opt the TV all the time?? A little peace and quiet after work is nice. It's not bad unless you find yourself living in a shack and mailing out letter-bombs, then maybe you should seek help.

Many people consider being alone as a sign of inadequacy. Which is not true at all.

i dont find it bad to be alone. i have an extremely active social life, but there are many occasions when i want peace and solitude. the fear is that we will always be alone, people fear not having anyone. we are social organisms, and without others to be with us, it seems we find this scary.
