It gives you a bigger field of vison, allows you to see things further away, it's also good to have the nose elevated (prevents drowning).

This goes back to a body plan that works well for the majority of animals. Some (like starfish, anemones, sea urchins) are radially symmetrical ... and they have one opening for both ingesting and excreting.
But most animals are basically a tube, with one end for eating, the other end for pooping. This is especially useful in an aquatic environment to keep the animal from reingesting what it is excreting.
Given that, it makes sense that sense organs (when they develop) would be near the eating end, and that the nerve centers (ganglia and brains) would be near the sense organs, and that tails and limbs (when they develop) would be designed to propel the animal forward in the direction of the mouth and sense organs.
This is all true for earhworms, fish, salamanders, monitor lizards, squirrels, squirrel monkeys, and people. The only difference is that, since we walk upright, this moves the mouth, sense organs, and brain from the front to the top.

Greetings:
Your answer if found in the bible in the first book.(Genesis 1:26-27). As far as the animals are concerned, God is a god of order, not chaos. Therefore, when He planned creation, order was established so that we could recognize the animal kingdom for what it really is. Man's image is a direct reflection as to how God's image is so we can identify with Him. God bless you.

It puts our sensory organs (sight, smell, and hearing) higher up so we can detect predators (and food!) from a further distance
