Not for religious reasons....but aren't these festivals more about spending time with family and giving each other presents? Besides, wouldn't they feel a little left out if they didn't?

If they want to, sure, why not? You don't have to be Catholic to go to a Catholic wedding, or Jewish to go to Temple. Everyone has their beliefs, but like you said, some of it is just about being with family and friends.

Merry...whatever you want!

I agree with "I am New". That is the real background of the X-mas celebration. I am not an x-tian but I celebrate because it's fun and festive. My x-tian friends don't seem to have a problem with it.
Also ask yourself if excluding others from participating in a holiday is what your belief system is really about. Is it a members only club or are you supposed to love and accept everyone?
Hypocrits indeed.

In many Western countries it's hard not to celebrate Christmas, since everything seems to be involved in it - days off, displays, music... I suppose we just take it as the time of the year when one thinks of others and not that it was originally religiously based thing.

Well, Christmas is actually a pagan tradition, so I guess if Christians celebrate a pagan tradition then Atheists can celebrate a religious festival.

Christmas isn't religious. Christmas is firstly about the celebration of the almighty dollar - something that atheists don't have a problem with, and secondly about the celebration of Jesus' birth.
