Personal choice for many. Required for none.

Buddha's last meal was tender pork. Buddha himself was not a vegetarian, although he would not eat an animal which was killed only for him to eat; if the animal was already dead and others would eat also he would. Monks of the Theravada (older) tradition of Buddhism must eat whatever they have collected in their begging bowls whatever kind of food it is.

Many buddhists, through a deepening understanding of the pervasiveness of suffering & their place in its perpetuation feel that they would rather not something die merely for them to have lunch when so many non-sentient (plant-derived) choices are available. Some buddhists may be vegetarian only on certain days or during a certain period of the year. Others may wish to be but find it unworkable due to practical or medical considerations, for example, a small percentage of the population cannot maintain full health without a small amount of meat in the diet.

Good question.

;-)

Not the right place to ask. But there are lots of different Buddhists, they believe in different things. Some of them do, many of them don't.

What you consume is a private determination. Lacto-vegetarians consume dairy, ovo-vegetarians consume eggs. Lacto-ovo vegetarians consume the two eggs and dairy. that is as much as you desire aspects of the egg you consume.
