The last of the dual delivery cities was New York. New York double delivery ended at least 10 years ago. As in most things it was a cost saving measure.

I remember twice a day mail, First class was probably two cents and a postcard a penny.
If you were waiting for something and did not arrive in the morning, you always hoped it would come in the afternoon mail. Late 40's early 50's.

That was newspapers. If the post office delivered those you must be in a pretty small town.

I cant get them to my house once a day. Soon they will not deliver mail on Saturday's

I'm 48, grew up in a suburb of Washington, DC, and we had mail only once a day as long as the early 60s, as far as I remember.

Yeah Right! When did they ever do twice..? Look they get 2 days off SUNDAY AND CHRISTMAS right next to eachother.

Maybe you meant twice a WEEK!
