I actually see i as more of a boy's name, but that's probably because I used to watch a TV show with a guy in it named Brett. It could go as both though. Certainly unique.

I love it, in fact always have, there was a girl named Brett in North and South, played by Genie Francis. Seemed fitting both when the character was a child and as a grown woman. Don't watch the movie to base your opinion on it, the character was a little b!tchy :)

I would personally like it more if there were an a at the end: Bretta.

But that's because I'm from a mostly Hispanic area and I've grown up with female names have the feminine Spanish ending, so much that a lot of names don't sound complete to me without it (Eugenie, for example...Eugenia is better).

It's your choice, though, and as it is, it's still a lovely name, if slightly masculine.

My mom's best friend (female) is named Brett. I think if you like it, that's all that counts, well that and the fact that it's not too off the wall and Brett is not.

I think Brett is a boys name. I've heard of Brit or Brin for a girl

Stop taking the good boy names away!!! Pretty soon there won't be any decent boy names to name our future sons because all the moms thought it'd be "sooo cute!!" to give their daughters names like Brett (not to mention Rowan, Kyle, Chase) ... Please reconsider, for the sake of the boys!!

I would strongly recommend another name. "Brett" is more commonly known as a boys name and your daughter will have years of grief by other children with this given name.
