It's a good question. And people ask it every year. It also has a million different answers. The day and the season are special to each person for different reasons. Finding out what Christmas means to you can't be answered by someone else. It comes from inside. How you feel about Christmas is what Christmas is really about...TO YOU!

For me, I love Christmas. I love the excitement, the lights, the tree, the family and friends I see each year. The feeling of Christmas to me is "childlike excitement". It's not about presents to me, it's about showing how much I care about someone, even if all I do is send a card.

People will give you the "pat answers" about Jesus's birthday and pagan holidays, but those are just facts. It's not what it's about. Because Christmas is about FEELING not facts. Whatever your beliefs, you have to feel the Spirit of Christmas to believe. And I'm not talking Santa Claus. Again, he's just a fact of Christmas. I have several movies that I watch this time of year that I think really helps reinforce the Spirit of Christmas. Watch them and see what you think. :)

The Polar Express with Tom Hanks - Yes it's animated but the story is WONDERFUL!

It's a Wonderful Life with Jimmy Stewart - I love the B/W version.

A Christmas Carol with George C. Scott - This classic is GREAT!

Everybody looks at Christmas in their own way. Follow your heart to find out how you feel about Christmas. :) Good luck!

Chritmas is really about the birth of Jesus. It is usually forgoten about in most houses. I mean how can you blame the kids when the first thing that they see in the morning is presents. The true story of Jesus get pushed away when there are presents around. All kids think a bout the night before Christmas is I hope that I get that new cell phone or MP3 player not I am so happy that it is Jesus's birthday tommorow. Eveynoe knows what the real reason of Christmas is and they think about it on the days before Chritmas but so many of us including me will loose sight of that real reason on the day of Christmas.

As a Christian to me it's about celebrating the birth and the gift of Christ and His life. At Easter we celebrate in His sacrifice in our place dying on the cross to save us from our sins and we also celebrate His ressurection as well. That's why we have the two Holidays of Christmas and Easter. Hince Christ in Christmas. His name's in the Holiday. That's what it is about not only to be but to all believers of Christ world wide and thru many generations. It's also a time of year for giving and recieving gifts and special time with friends and family. Enjoy the Season and may God's love find your heart this season. God bless and Merry Christmas all.

Christmas is really about giving the people other things to occupy their minds while the planet is at its darkest phase in the year.
November and December gets dark and cold and generally blah. unless you are living in the tropics where the light is the same the whole year.

Not every country celebrate it and all of the crass commercialism? That is really only a few years old.

Before that, people simply gathered together over some food and wine. The object was to get together to sing christmas carols, and generally just socialize..

Christmas is a Christian holiday. It is when Christ was born here on earth to Mary and Joseph. The giving of gifts is compared to God giving His Son to us here on earth. Hope it helps. Merry Christmas!!

Christmas is about gifts. It might have been a pagan holiday that Christians took over, but now it's about capitalism. If you think it's any different, you are fooling yourself.

Technically, Christmas is to celebrate the birth of jesus christ.
but, even people like me who practise a different religion, can still love it. I think christmas is a time about peace, and love and compassion and family, and that heart warming feeling that you get around this season. It's about the little things, like your wierd old aunt sally that comes over, and the big things, like the joy of the season.

It should be about the greatest gift of all....the birth of our saviour Jesus Christ. I must admit that I'm as guilty as anyone though about the gifts! Merry Christmas to all. Happy Birthday, Jesus.

And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
