Rectangle, triangle, any polygon base...or even a circle (which makes the pyramid a cone):
all you have to do is multiply the area of the base by the height of the pyramid (not the slant height which runs along the side, but the height issued from the top and perpendicular to the plane formed by the base) and divide what you obtain by 3.

The formula for the volume of a pyramid is 1/3(area of base)(height).
The area of a rectangle is (length)(width).
Therefore the volume of a pyramid with rectangular base would be: 1/3(length)(width)(height)

THe volume of any pyramid is one third the volume of the corresponding prism.
Therefore, your a rectangular based pyramid you find the area of the base (length x width) multiply by one third and then multiply by the height of the pyramid.

The volume of a pyramid is:
(1/3) * (base) * (height)
no matter what shape the base is.
This formula works for a cone too.

I think i should be width*length*height*/2 not width*length*height/3 because if we split the pyramid into 2 parts it joins to form a perfect cuboid with sides (B,L/2,H)!
