Only if you ask them to start repaying you for the thousands you spent on raising them would it be entirely wicked.
Perhaps charge them interest as well? Present them each with a bill and when they ask what it is for, tell them they're adopted and this is what they owe you.

My first instinct was, I hope you're not asking a serious question. But you know your children better than I do. If they'll find the joke funny, go ahead and spring it on them, but DON'T do it if it will hurt them. There is a fine line between a practical joke and emotional abuse.

Make sure you're in the pub ringing from a payphone when you do it, with very little change to continue the conversation when they start crying and asking questions. . . . all the best Mr. B

Why don't you do start having a biological child and then kick your adopted kids out when it's born as you're shouting it to them?

Yeah you should drive them up to DCF and tell them to get out, that they were adopted and you think they are way too expensive so you are returning them. Then tell them you're kidding and take them somewhere fun.
