Many dentists don't want to do root canals or other invasive procedures while the patient is in the first trimester. Usually, the best course of treatment is antibiotics and pain relievers until the patient reaches 2nd tri.
Once you're far enough along, you can have a root canal. A responsible dentist will want confirmation from your OB that you're healthy enough for treatment. You will need x-rays. Ask them to double drape you: 2 lead aprons over your belly, and don't let them forget your neck shield, either. The local anesthetic is not harmful, but you can't get nitrous oxide (laughing gas) at any point in your pregnancy.
Often, root canals on pregnant patients are done in two stages in an attempt to keep invasive procedures to a minimum during pregnancy, so don't be surprised if the dentist suggests it. At the first appointment, the affected root is removed to stop the pain and a temporary material fills the root canal. After the pregnancy, the canal is permanently filled and the tooth is permanently restored, either with a filling or a crown.

umm yes, I had to get my wisdom teeth cut out while I was preg. ( in my 3ed trimester) I was in so much pain. You have to ask your doc for a note to ok it for the dentist. I do not know what you mean by can I get dental help? If you are asking about will Medicaid pay for it then yes but you have to make an appointment with someone who takes it and it might take awhile to get in. They will not put you to sleep they will just give shots in the mouth to deaden the area but if you hurt that much you will be thankful they did something! ( It sucked having to get your wisdom teeth cut out while being awake)
Good Luck !!
PS They will make you wear a X ray vest so it will not hurt the baby!!

Just have her take you to the dentist and ask her to wait in the waiting room. You can tell the dentist in private that you're pregnant so they can take the proper precautions. National Youth Crisis Hotline: 800-442-HOPE (4673) This hotline can help you deal with issues such as how to tell your mom you are pregnant or where to go to get help if that isn't possible.

yes you can get dental work done. they have other means of meds and ways of doing that will not harm the baby. nothing is worse then a tooth ache. and if nothing else they can give you a temp. fix until you can get it done after the baby. hope you feel better soon.

yes i had some dental work done like that when i was three months prego with my daughter. but you do need to tell your dentist that you are preggo b/c x-ray can hurt the baby but if you need one he or she will put a thin metal vest or metal blanket over your chest and stomach to prevent harm.
