Start jumping with feet together up only four inches, flat-footed jumping, from the pavement onto a curb. Over and over. Then, jump up eight inches, flat-footed. Really excessive practice. Move the height up to table-top eventually, flat-footed leap straight-up. It works, just build the height really slowly. Remember, feet together all the way from spring to landing.

Practice. Work out your legs and calfs. Strenghten your legs, calfs, ankles, thighs, lower back too.
One day you'll wake from sleeping, you'll put on a pair of your old jeans and they'll be like capri pants. You'll give them to your little brother.
You will grow. The key now is to get the work ethic. Do you just wanna dunk or "dunk with style". Jordan flew. Vince creates while up in the air before he throws it down.

Gary Payton is 6 foot 4 (he's a former Sonic and I'm in Washington), but he barely gets the ball over the rim when he dunks. Nate Robinson (former WA husky) is about 5 foot 9, dunking. Think of what he could do at 6'4".?!?!?!?
You will grow, but will you fly?

You could juts buy a trampoline. But I also have heard of advertising slogans that say a 5-10 could dunk on 10 foot rim but I don't know if it 'll work on your height. If your ever by a local drug store or news stand look at this magazine, SLAM. It's a basketball magazine and in it there is always an advertisement for some wierd shoe that makes you jump really high. Besides that the only way I think you could dunk is by lowering your rim.

use a chair.... One problem you face is your hands are to small. YOu will have to use both hands to get the ball above the rim. This means you will have to jump about six inches higher. Bugsy Boages was only five two and played about ten years in the nba and he could not dunk. He could jump to the rim but he couldn't take the ball to the rim with only one hand and that is was kept him from dunking. Work on the three and the fifteen footer and your dribble drive. When you grow and mature then worry about the dunk. Or forget about dunking and start working harder in the classroom and on social skills not taught on the court of by watching an NBA game and you will be much better off in your life...

Seriously my cousin dunked a ball at about 14 and was 5'7. He used those shoes that increase your vertical leap by about 6 inches. You jump rope in these shoes and do other things to build up your ankles and it really works! I know because I saw him do it. It will take a few months but good luck! You will get there but remember to take better care of your body and stay away from things that cause injuries. You come first. Remember Spud Webb was 5'7 and was older when he did it. Don't be frustrated because it takes time and it will pay off. Dunking is not everything. Having fun is. Many NBA stars never dunked a ball. Best wishes!

At 13 you have not developed fully. There are not many 13 year olds who can dunk to begin with. Dunking takes a lot of leg strength and knowing how to take off. I am 5'9" and had a lot of jumping ability, the only problem I had is that my hands were not big enough to palm the ball. I always had to try to do it with both hands which was even harder. Wait till you develop and work a lot on strengthening you legs.

There are very few people at that height that can dunk, like Spudd Webb and Nate Robinson -- and they trained for many years before being able to do so, and were blessed with genetic athletic abilities.

Plyometrics (jumping moves) and exercises that work your legs and glutes (squats, lunges, etc.) will get you closer to that goal. There are many workout videos/DVDs and devices, like the JumpSoles, to help you develop that skill. If you can't afford it, do some web searches for basketball workouts and plyometrics, and you should find some helpful pages.

My son plays High School basketball, and the starters on his varsity team still haven't dunked successfully in a game, and they are older and taller than you. Still, some college scouts come out to see them play... so dunking isn't everything.

FORGET ABOUT DUNKING!!!!!
Wanting to be able to dunk at 5'6" is sorta dumb, now think about it.
Dunking is a show off move. If you have a dream of playing pro ball (who doesn't?), then learn the basics. LEARN HOW TO SHOOT AND HANDLE THE BALL!!!
Dunking the ball is something that will come or it will not-you have no control over that-it's a matter of how tall you are. If you get to be 6'2" and can dunk there will always be someone who is 7' who can block you. If you can shoot-really shoot you are it.Think of all the great players who were not fortunate enough to be tall-remember-you have no control over that. Tony Parker, Jason Kidd, John Stockton (17 years in the league)-these are all franchise players. They got there because they could (1) handle the ball (2) shoot the ball (3) knew the game.
The players who are super players are the ones who learned the basics-then learned to dunk-Carmello-Lebron-Dwayne--these guys are in their own league-not because they can dunk(think of all the 7' players who are 2-3 4 string players-because they can not handle the ball and can not shoot-they depended on their height) but because they can handle the ball, shoot, and know the game.

IF YOU LEARN THE BASICS-AND GET REALLY GOD AT THE BASICS-YOU'VE GOT A PLACE IN PRO BALL--IF YOU GROW TALL ENOUGH TO DUNK-YOU CAN BE ANOTHER LEBRON OR WADE.

Learn to shoot first before worrying about dunking. I mean your only 5'6 and 13. Just shoot for hours in the drive way. There are many players that cant dunk that are great. Example is Steve Nash. Two time MVP and he cant dunk.

If your talking about the actual NBA basket, that'll be 10 feet tall... I dont think you can reach that high even by jumping, But if you actually want to dunk try lowering the basket a couple of feet and you will be able to dunk!

HaVe FuN!!
