chemical reactions have two part first part is called reactant that is written before arrow and second is called product written after arrow sign that is
Reactant -------> Product
e.g: burning of coal in air

coal is C (carbon)
air is O (Oxygen)

as we know in this process carbon and oxygen are reactant
hence
C + O2 ---->
O is 2 bcoz it is diatomic

where product is a some of C and O that is

C + O2 ----> CO2
balance the atoms if it is not balanced

such as

C2H4 + O2 ---> CO2 + H2O
equation is not balanced
add 2 in front of C in C2

2C2H4 + O2 ----> CO2 + H2O

add 4 in front of C and 4 in front of H in product

2C2H4 + O2 ---> 4CO2 + 4H2O

all atoms are balanced except O2 on reactant side hence add 6 so O become 12 as equal to 12 on product side

2C2H4 + 6O2 ---> 4CO2 + 4H2O

Indicate the physical states of the reactants and products.
To do this, you need to be familiar with the properties of various compounds or you need to be told what the phases are for the chemicals in the reaction. Oxides are solids, hydrogen forms a diatomic gas, tin is a solid, and the term 'water vapor' indicates that water is in the gas phase:

SnO2(s) + 2 H2(g) --> Sn(s) + 2 H2O(g)

This is the balanced equation for the reaction.

Just write out the reactants and products first, without adding anything to them.

Then just add the number of a particular element on each side, and make it equal on the other side.

you just write it out. you have to make everything even so you write out products and reactants below and keep track down there
