I am on a hockey team. When I get the puck and I am skating I always loose it. Or I go to fast and I just miss my oppratunity (sp?) to score. It frusterates me to death! My hockey season started in September and I scored 18 goals already but so far I've not been playing so well. Since the beginning of December I've only scored 6 goals. My stick handeling (sp?) is getting sloppy and I can't control the puck. How can I prevent this from happening? I used to be a really good player but now I'm in a bit of a funk.

It is going to take practice. Get a book or video that has drills and skate as much as possible. I also started carrying a stick around the house, so everything I did made me work on control and strengthed my wrist.

Wow, I wonder what has changed?
I love to play hockey, and so does my brother and dad, so I know a lot of tips.
First of all, what are doing to lose the puck?
Try moving your stick side to side on either side of the puck.
(do you get it?)
Well, when you get the puck, skate toward the net, and while doing that, keep your stick on one side of the puck, the move to the other side. (if that makes sense to you)
Anyway, any questions, e-mail me at ballgirl1758@yahoo.com

Stick handling is something that needs to be continually practiced on and off the ice. Here are a couple of links for dry land training:
VIDEO TRAINING: NTDP's off-ice drill series helps stickhandling

This one has 3 exercises that changes daily: http://www.dailyhattrick.com/hockey/

On ice work on moving your feet with the puck.
