Those are fruit flies. Mine live in the kitchen sink drain and the only improvement I've found is to make sure any food debris is cleared completly out. I run the water a looong time to get it all washed out. When they're active, they hang out by my plants but I'm not seeing a correlation. Good luck and Merry Christmas!

I occasionally have these pesky little critters. They hatch off of produce that you purchase at the local grocery store.
Have you ever noticed them around some kinds of produce while shopping in the grocery store?
I try not to purchase any produce where I observe this going on.
I had some Terro Ant Killer in a storage cupboard and put some of this out for them and it got rid of them all. It was a little slow at 1st but it got rid of them. They seemed to like the stuff.

The bugs are fruit flies (or gnats). The best way to get rid of them is fill a coffee cup about 1/4 full of apple cider vinegar and place them close to where you see them and in a couple of days when you look inside the cups you will see they are filled with the dead flies.

Depending on the type of plant you have, it could be secreting something that makes it atttractive to insects. Talk to a local gardner who may have an answer for you. Good luck.
