I think the important words in your question are 'my experience' because i've had some incredible managers.
There are two in particular who were loved by the staff because they were everything a manager should be and more.
I've had time in management to and found some aspects of it extremely hard, sometimes i would have given anything to be back on the shop floor. There can be a massive amount of responsibility, a huge work load and much higher stress levels for not much more money than the shop floor worker.
I think you should go into management, with your ideas about how things should be run, with your higher intelligence, etc, it should be all so very easy for you.

You have to decide what you want more. To be yourself, and take a slower path up the corporate ladder, or be wealthier quicker having compromised your principles. I took the former route and am now vastly more respected be my peers and juniors than are my fellow senior managers.
btw - It's probably wrong to disrespect someone for having substandard intelligence. Intelligence is something we're either born with or not. It's only the a lack of willingness to learn and apply the learning that should be disrespected.

Couldn't agree with you more!
There are two types of worker. Those who work to pay the mortgage, etc. and are reasonable happy with their lot and those who want power for themselves and are desperate to climb the corporate ladder.
As Karl Marx once put it:
'Workers are like monkeys climbing a tree. All that those at the top of the tree can see is grinning, smiling faces. While all that those at the bottom of the tree can see is arseholes!'

Hell yeah, sick of the bullshite office environment. People aren't judged on skills but the ability to lick balls an kiss arsses, just listen to the language they use to describe stuff a team effort means you do all the work I'm better than you.
Good performance all round, thanks for making me look good etc etc. Muppets in management.

im not in britain but i agree with you. arselicks and brown nosers usually get the managerial jobs. i do work in male orientated business (building sites, warehouses) i have 17 years hard graft and skill on my part. its the ones whos back is first to go get made foreman(with the exception of building sites, them boys know their onions). i've had junior grade office staff try to tell me my job. id sooner die a broken back labourer than a brown nosing no mark with zero experience.

not true of all managers .....is this not a case of sour grapes..... maybe its negativity or contempt that holds you back .....be true to yourself aim for your objective and stop moaning about others success... I left school no qualifications and worked my way up no one said it was easy but its been rewarding.... I feel comments like this are made by bitter narrow minded individuals who cant or wont and I think employee recognise this in them and that's why they are never promoted.

This is not a question, more a statement seemingly close to your heart. Are you feeling guilty? What is your problem that you need to fixate on the subject.
