Yes and no. It would improve things all year around but you have to realize that the Christmas Spirit of Giving is greatly influenced by the fact that those "good tidings" are tax write offs. So in terms of fiscal considerations, the Christmas holiday is actually one week before your due date on "charitable donations." People that have enuff to give are naturally going to wait until the end of the year because they have to see how much they have to give in order to drop them into the next lower tax bracket.
In theory your idea is correct but in practice the Christmas Spirit is actually nothing more than profiteering.
Isn't that sad :(

You have a good point. I just don't know if the majority of people would be up to it.
During the year, I see folks leaving a Sunday church service who cut folks off when driving as they leave the church parking lot...so it seems that the attention span isn't there.
It would be a kinder and more gentler (is there such a word?), if what you could suggest was enacted.
Merry, merry.

Evil, by it's very nature wants to be bigger than it is.
It makes us focus on the one little incident every day
where someone dumped their bad day on us, and we responded negatively, and makes us feel like we're an @sshole.
But there are 10 times more good things that happen in a days time, where we respond positively.
Focus on that!

Yes, indeed. I believe that Jesus came to earth to teach us how to have a personal relationship with God, and to teach us to have love for one another.
