The correct answer to your first questions are yes and yes. A character with a necro secondary can raise minions (like a Rt/N - great minion bomber by the way) and any character with a ranger secondary can have a pet.

The most effective minion master would be a necro primary though. I won't go into secondaries for them, cause that would spark a massive debate over who's method is the best. The most common are N/Mo for help healing the minions, or N/R for pretty much the same reason (Healing Spring). You can be a successful Minion Master regardless of your secondary though. Necros are more versatile than just being minion masters though. Their curse builds can be fun to use, as well as a pure blood build.

Ranger primaries are favored because of their primary attribute, Expertise. This allows you to lower the energy cost of skills. This can create a variety of high-energy builds to be run effectively, even with a low energy pool (i.e. - the Touch Ranger).

Check out www.guildwiki.org for some known builds to try out, or visit the forums at www.guildwarsguru.com/forum.

Regardless of having your secondary profession as Necromancer or Ranger, the profession of choice will still allow you to create minions or have a pet.

Having a secondary Ranger profession does not affect the pet in any way. You simply have a pet and work together. There's no limitations. However, becoming a Minion Master with Necromancer as secondary profession does have its drawbacks.

Soul Reaping is a Necromancer's primary attribute, and is utilized to its fullest when being a Minion Master. It is dependent on for gaining Energy from any allies or creatures that die in the area. It also aids in maintaining a minion army, and lessens the cost of Energy usage.

As a secondary Minion Master, Soul Reaping will not be accessible to you, and may make preserving a minion army difficult. Hence the reason why secondary Minion Masters are not common or recommended.

Minion Masters usually take on a secondary Monk profession in order to combat the Health sacrifice that is used in order to heal their minion army. Apart from the Monk's self healing spells, spells such as Heal Area or Karei's Healing Circle are also used to heal both yourself and your army. It's a good way of maintaining everyone's health while the area is clear of enemies.

Just always remember to never die in a party with other players while having minions. Always stay at the back of the party so as to avoid becoming an enemy's target. Let your minions do the killing. Note that without the master, the minions will turn against fellow team mates.

As for having a R/N or N/R, you will have the ability to acquire both a minion army and a pet.

Whether you are r/n or n/r, you will be able to have a pet and create minions. To create minions, you need one of the spells to animate minions, and to have a pet you need "charm animal." The only tough decision you will have is deciding whether you will use ranger or necromancer skills more.

If you are more worried about raising powerful minions who live for long periods of time, go with the necromancer. If you want to make non-spell skills cheaper, go with the ranger.

Me, I prefer the ranger ANYDAY.

I don't believe so, I think they are both listed as primary skills, (check the game manual for more information on primary only skills).

yup, you can have a pet if you're a ranger primary or secondary.
