Open it, pretend to be surprised, and don't say anything other than thank you. When you can, take it back to the store they bought it from and as long as the plastic's still on it, they should let you exchange it. This way, the people who gave it to you don't get there feelings hurt and you can also pick something you like.

act surprised... christmas is a special time of year, and you dont wanna hurt their feelings... just smile and be greatful-- its the thought that counts remember.... at least they tried to get youy something you would like. i mean hey, you have it yourself so of course you like it. maybe give it to a friend or something for a birthday... this way you can make them feel happy you like the gift, and make use out of it as well.
i just feel everyone would feel happier.. if not, they would all be dissapointed since they didnt suprise you, and every christmas for a child should be cherished and remembered
merry christmas =]]

i think it would mean so much to them if you realy liked the gift they got yuou. As u said if your family had money issues this year they did there best to surprise u and make u feel special. later on u could sell ur cd or even return it w/o them knowing.

Say "Thanks this is just what I wanted!"
Then, take it back to the store and get a different CD and don't tell anyone. If you don't have the receipt tell them that the CD isn't working, do they have the receipt so that you can exchange it for a different copy? If worst comes to worst, just tell them nicely that you already have the CD.

this is the reason you ask for money for christmas, the more repeated gifts of 100 dollar bills the happier and more surprised you get.
if it were really the thought that mattered.

Just act surprised. Don't ruin it for everyone else. After Christmas just quietly go and exchange it for one you don't have.

Act surprised, and save them from bad feelings. They didn't know that you already had it, and they should be "honored" with a warm gift reception. Later, hopefully, you can exchange it for one you want. "It's the thought that counts..." bla bla bla. This shouldn't be a day for hard feelings...
